Does my Subaru need a tune up? A modern Subaru doesn't need an old style tune up. It needs the mileage based service in your owner's manual, which our shops can handle at both locations.
What a tune up used to be
Years ago a tune up meant an oil change, spark plugs, an air filter, a fuel filter and a distributor cap and rotor. Owners did it when the car ran rough, or every 20,000 to 30,000 miles.
What it is now
Today carmakers set a schedule by mileage. At each stop we check the car and do the required work. That can include:
- Fluid changes
- Air filters and spark plugs
- Computer resets
- Timing belt replacement when your model has one

Check engine light is a different job
A check engine light rarely goes away with a tune up or a scheduled service. It needs its own diagnosis.
Why follow the schedule
Regular service catches small problems early, so you're less likely to get stranded. Following the maker's schedule also helps keep your factory warranty in good standing. You don't have to use the dealer for that.

Do I have to go to the dealer to keep my warranty?
No. You can have scheduled maintenance done at an independent shop. Keep your records.
Is oil changed every 3,000 miles enough?
Not on its own. Your owner's manual lists other services at set mileages, and skipping them can lead to bigger repairs.
Does Subaru service include a timing belt?
On some models, yes, at a set mileage. Check your manual or ask us.
